11 Best Cabin Tents In 2022: A Mega List

1.Coleman Core Instant Cabin Tent (Best Overall)
- INSTANT SETUP: The tent body with pre-attached poles that lock into place creates a setup time as short as 2 minutes.
- WEATHER PROTECTION: H20 Block Technology combines water-repellent fabrics with a fully taped rainfly and sealed seams to resist rain.
- ADJUSTABLE VENTILATION: Lower air intake vents draw in cool air from the ground while the mesh ceiling allows hot air to escape.
Product Features:
- Center Height: 78″
- Weight: 27lbs
- Setup Time: 1-5 minutes
- Room Divider: Yes
- Sleeps: 9 people
Thanks to the large T-style door, the Core 9-Person Instant Cabin Tent makes easy entry and exit. The large door is also excellent for bringing in air beds and other large appliances.
But where it really shines is in the setup.
If you’ve got experience setting up tents, It can be done in as little as 1 minute.
However, 5 minutes is a more reasonable timeline, especially when adding the rainfly.
In addition, it stays cool in the Summer thanks to the excellent ventilation. This is because of the large windows.
In the Winter, you have excellent protection from the rain.
Unfortunately, the great ventilation comes with a downside…
It doesn’t keep you warm in colder climates. Also, some windows can’t be closed, which only adds to the problem.
There is a divider that separates the tent into 2. Most people use this for privacy reasons. But why not turn part of the tent into a play area?
Keep the kids happy, and your life will be easier.
That’s what I say!
Although it doesn’t keep you warm in high winds, the tent itself stands strong.
All tents had blown over apart from Coleman Core Cabin Tent in numerous instances.
However, you will need to use your own tent stakes. The ones included are unreliable.
What I Like…
- 5-minute maximum setup
- World-class ventilation
- Stand up and move around easily
- Separates the tent in 2 with the divider
What I Don’t Like…
- It’s not good at retaining heat
- The tent stakes are cheaply made
2.Wenzel 8 Person Klondike Tent (Best Screened Porch)
- Convertible screen room with inverted "T" style door and inside flap zippered windows
- Removable seam-sealed fly
- Mesh roof vents
Product Features:
- Center Height: 78″
- Weight: 27lbs
- Setup Time: 25 minutes
- Room Divider: Yes
- Sleeps: 8 people
The Wenzel Klondike Tent has many benefits. It’s heavier than most, so it’s best for car camping, rather than backpacking.
But the waterproofing abilities make up for the extra weight.
Many people have encountered thunderstorms when camping in this tent. The result was a tent that was standing strong and completely dry!
Compared to the Coleman Core, this one has a slight edge in waterproofing abilities.
The mesh windows and doors provide excellent ventilation, helping keep your belongings dry. Not only that, but they prevent mosquitoes from entering in the Summer months.
In addition, the screened porch has flooring. This means you can use it for storage in bad weather.
The screen room doors and windows can also be zipped up, which comes in handy during a storm.
While your larger equipment can stay in the screened porch, there are interior pockets for smaller items.
They are low to the ground, providing easy access from your air mattress or sleeping bag.
In terms of setup, you get written instructions. These are easy to understand, even for first-time campers.
However, it takes 1 adult around 25 minutes to set up. This is a lot longer than the Coleman Core Cabin Tent.
What I Like…
- Screened porch for table, chairs, or equipment storage.
- Detailed setup instructions that are easy to understand
- Because it’s heavier, I recommend it for car camping.
- Bug-proof design
What I Don’t Like…
- Slower setup than the Coleman Core Cabin Tent.
- Too heavy for backpacking.
3.CAMPROS 12-Person-Camping-Tent (Best Family Pick)
- 【Roomy for 12 People Family】 CAMPROS tent is the perfect family tent you’ve ever seen. With the dimension of 14' x 12' x 84''(H) . 4 queen air mattresses or 12 sleeping bags are well fit in the...

Product Features:
- Center Height: 84″
- Weight: 39lbs
- Setup Time: 20 minutes
- Room Divider: Yes
- Sleeps: 12 people
If you have a large family, you can’t go wrong with the Campros Camping Tent. Even if there are only 6 people, this tent provides plenty of room for everybody to feel comfortable.
To give you an idea of the size, it fits 3 queen-sized air mattresses with space leftover. Plus, a center height of 84″ provides more headspace than the Coleman Core tent.
Once you’ve finished camping, it fits nicely into the storage bag. As experienced campers, we all know the struggle of a tent that doesn’t fit in the bag, right!?
Although the setup requires multiple people, it only takes around 20 minutes. This is faster than the Wenzel Klondike but slower than Coleman Core Tent.
There are internal storage pockets for small possessions. However, I would like to see more of these, as they are limited.
Moreover, it can be divided into 3 rooms, which is essential for families.
However, it only comes with 1 divider. Therefore, you will have to buy another one unless you’re satisfied with only 2 rooms.
Based on the experience of previous customers, most people said it held up well in rain and wind. However, you must use the rain fly for maximum protection.
Overall, it’s ‘not’ as strong as the Wenzel Klondike and Coleman Core Tent in thunderstorms.
What I Like…
- Plenty of space for 3 queen-sized air mattress
- Fits into the storage bag after use
- Setup takes around 20 minutes
- Can be divided into 3 rooms
What I Don’t Like…
- Need 2-3 people for assembly
- The Wenzel Klondike and Coleman Core Tent are better in harsh weather
4.UNP Tents 6 Person Camping Tent (Excellent Ventilation)

Product Features:
- Center Height: 78″
- Weight: 20lbs
- Setup Time: 10 minutes
- Room Divider: No
- Sleeps: 6 people
The UNP 6 person camping tent offers a quick and easy setup.
With 6 poles, it takes about 10 minutes to set up, which is considerably less time than the Wenzel Klondike or the Campros Camping Tent.
You can fit 2 queen-sized air mattresses with space leftover.
UNP recommends this tent for 6 people; however, that will be a little cramped! I recommend it for a maximum of 4 people for an enjoyable experience.
And if you’re looking to hang wet clothes to dry, there’s a hook attachment underneath the gear loft.
It also has good waterproofing abilities. However, some people experienced very minor leaks after a torrential downpour.
But that’s to be expected with all tents, right!?
Like the Campros tent, this one also fits perfectly into the storage bag. This stands true, even after many camping trips. What a relief that is, huh!?
There are windows on all 4 walls. This makes for outstanding ventilation, helping keep your belongings dry by preventing condensation.
On the flip side, you’ll enjoy a bug-free experience in the Summer months.
So how about the downsides?
Firstly, It only has one door. This means it’s difficult for people to enter and exit, as you need to climb over people.
Also, the zippers sometimes get caught in the fabric.
What I Like…
- Quick and easy setup – only 10 minutes on average!
- Enough space for 2 queen-sized air mattresses
- Gear loft and hook attachment for drying wet clothes
- Windows on all 4 walls for excellent ventilation
What I Don’t Like…
- One door makes it harder to enter and exit
- Zippers sometimes get caught in the fabric
5.KAZOO 4 Person Family Camping Tent (Fastest Setup)

Product Features:
- Center Height: 61″
- Weight: 14lbs
- Setup Time: 1 minute
- Room Divider: No
- Sleeps: 4 people
The Kazoo Family Camping Tent is perfect for anyone who wants an instant setup. This tent can be assembled by 1 person, which is also a major plus.
To give you an idea of space, you can fit 2 queen-sized air mattresses with additional space for gear.
That means that 4 people can fit inside. However, I recommend sticking with 3 if you want extra comfort.
Compared to the previous tents on this list, it’s lightweight, weighing only 14lbs.
That means it’s easy to transport but still too heavy for backpacking.
If you need something lighter, you can choose the 3 person option. However, you will have to sacrifice space.
Unlike the Coleman Core Tent, the stakes included are durable. This is because they are made from aluminum rather than steel.
If you’re camping in the Summer months, you can take advantage of the sunshade. In addition, the outer tent layer can be removed for extra ventilation.
Sounds like the perfect opportunity for some stargazing, huh!?
And to top it off…
Multiple bright color options make this tent stand out from the crowd. Don’t be surprised if you get compliments from other campers!
But there are some downsides.
With a center height of 61″, you won’t be able to stand up inside. Although, you could upgrade to the 6 person option, which has a center height of 73″.
Also, I would like to see a more spacious interior.
What I Like…
- Instant setup saves you time
- Setup only requires 1 person
- Lightweight design (14lbs)
- Fits 3 people comfortably
What I Don’t Like…
- Not enough space to stand up inside
- I wish it was a little bigger inside the tent.
6.Coleman Camping Tent with Closet (Most Storage Space)
- Cabin tent features built-in closet with shelves and hanger bar to help you stay organized
- Fast Pitch design sets up in about 9 minutes
- Spacious 8-person design with room divider included for privacy
Product Features:
- Center Height: 80″
- Weight: 33lbs
- Setup Time: 20 minutes
- Room Divider: Yes
- Sleeps: 8 people
Many tents are on the market, but few can compare to this Coleman Camping Tent.
It’s unique because of the built-in closet, making it perfect for people who want an organized and clutter-free experience.
Not only that, but the closet comes with a hanger bar and shelves, helping keep everything neatly stored away.
Other great features include inverted seams to prevent rain from seeping in, as well as a rainfly that overlaps enough to keep water from dripping into the windows.
Compared with the UNP 6 person camping tent, it holds up better in the rain.
You’ll also love the generous 80″ of headroom this tent provides, giving you plenty of space to get dressed and stretch your legs.
In addition, the hinged design means you don’t have to bend over and unzip the door each time you enter or exit.
If you’re camping in the Summer, you can even remove the rainfly. This will provide more ventilation and allow for stargazing.
Unfortunately, you’ll find it challenging to get into the storage bag once you’re done, and the setup instructions are difficult to understand.
But every great tent comes with minor downsides, huh!?
With 2 people, setup takes around 20 minutes, so it’s not the fastest.
What I Like…
- Built-in storage closet
- The closet has shelves for better organization
- Storage bag has wheels for easy transportation
- Inverted seams provide protection from rain
What I Don’t Like…
- Difficult to get into the storage bag after use.
- Setup instructions are difficult to understand.
7.Browning Camping Two-Room Big Horn Tent (Best Weatherproof)
- Our Browning Big Horn Series is a free-standing tent with fiberglass poles and steel uprights, giving ultimate extra strength and stability
- Two-room wall divider, extra tall center and straight side walls gives more room for cots, sleeping bags and extra gear
- Six large windows, two doorways and mesh roof offer easy entry and ultimate ventilation
Product Features:
- Center Height: 87″
- Weight: 34lbs
- Setup Time: 10 minutes
- Room Divider: Yes
- Sleeps: 8 people
The Browning Camping Two-Room Big Horn Tent is perfect for those who need a weatherproof and durable tent.
It features high-strength fiberglass poles and steel uprights, making it resistant to wind and rain.
So how does it compare to the other tents on this list?
Much better – to put it frankly.
Additionally, it has 2 doors – one at the back and one at the front – making it easy to enter and exit.
It’s also worth mentioning that this tent divides into 2 large rooms. Each room has its own door, which is good design work on Browning’s part.
Otherwise, you would have to walk through a separate compartment to leave.
And who wants that? Not me!
The room divider also comes in handy for couples. You can turn one section into a sleeping area and the other a kitchen or dining room.
Alternatively, large groups can divide the tent into 2 sleeping areas.
Unlike the UNP Camping Tent, the zippers are high quality, meaning they won’t get stuck on the fabrics.
Finally, with a center height of 87″, it’s the tallest tent on this list. The walls are straight at the sides, so headroom doesn’t decline as you reach the edges.
For downsides, I found that it’s pretty heavy – at close to 35 lbs.
So, it’s definitely not designed for 1-person camping!
In addition, you can get a footprint, but you need to purchase it separately.
What I Like…
- Most weather-resistant tent on this list
- 2 doors allow for easy entry and exit
- Divides into 2 large rooms, each with its own entrance.
- Very spacious (excellent for large groups)
What I Don’t Like…
- Heavy at 35lbs
- Footprint needs to be purchased separately
8.Coleman Cabin Tent with Instant Setup (Best For Couples)
- Instant tent sets up in just 1 minute. Fits 1 queen-size air bed.5 Tent Windows with 1 door
- WeatherTec system with patented welded floors and inverted seams to keep you dry
- Rugged Polyguard 2X double-thick fabric for reliable, long-lasting use
Product Features:
- Center Height: 59″
- Weight: 18lbs
- Setup Time: 2 minutes
- Room Divider: No
- Sleeps: 2 people
This Coleman Cabin Tent is smaller than the other tents on this list. However, a large cabin tent is not always better.
If you’re camping as a couple, dragging around a giant tent can be a pain.
So why do I recommend this tent?
Setup takes about 2 minutes. To take it down, you’re looking at about 5 minutes.
The inside has enough space for a queen-sized air mattress and equipment, but don’t expect any additional room to move around.
The zippers operate smoothly and don’t get caught in the fabric, saving you the frustration!
But can it hold up in bad weather?
It does excellent in high winds, but water leaks through the windows in a rainstorm (even with the rainfly).
And to make things worse…
You have to purchase the rainfly separately, which I don’t like.
That’s why I only recommend this tent for the summer months or when there is no chance of rain/snow.
Should you decide to purchase this tent, you will need to sacrifice headroom.
The tallest point reaches 59″, which is considerably less than other cabin tents. However, you can upgrade to the 6 person option, which has 72″ of headroom.
What I Like…
- Cozy design is great for couples
- 2 minute setup time
- Fits a queen-sized air mattress
- Keeps you warm in high winds
What I Don’t Like…
- You need to buy the rainfly separately
- Small center height
9.Coleman Prairie Breeze Cabin Tent (Includes Ceiling Lightning)
- 9-person cabin tent makes you feel at home with built-in LED lighting and fan system
- WeatherTec system and rainfly keep tent interior dry and comfortable
- Easy setup with snag-free poles and Insta-Clip suspension
Product Features:
- Center Height: 84″
- Weight: 31lbs
- Setup Time: 15 minutes
- Room Divider: yes
- Sleeps: 9 people
Yet another eye-opening tent by Coleman.
However, unlike the previous tent, this one actually includes a rainfly! And the good news is that it does an excellent job at keeping you dry.
A large floor area (120″ x 168″) gives you enough space for 2 queen-sized air mattresses. With that in mind, this tent works well for families of 5.
Not only that but it can be split in two, so you can have some privacy from the kids.
In addition, the 6 large windows give you the perfect amount of ventilation to keep things cool during hot summer nights.
You get a generous 84 inches for center height, which means everyone can stand up and move around comfortably.
Similar to the Browning Big Horn Tent, the walls are also straight on all sides, giving you ample headroom throughout.
And with its quick setup time (15 minutes), you won’t waste any time putting this bad boy together.
This specific model also comes with a ceiling fan and light. Both of which are operated by a switch on the tent wall.
The light works great; however, the ceiling fan leaves a lot to be desired.
With all of these benefits, there are some cons to consider.
For example, the walls are not insulated, so I only recommend it for the summer. Otherwise, you will be cold when the wind picks up.
And that’s no fun, right!?
Unless you know how to keep your tent warm in the Winter.
What I Like…
- The rainfly keeps you dry
- Setup only takes around 15 minutes with the color-coded poles.
- Ceiling fan and light are a nice touch.
- 84″ of center height is great for taller people.
What I Don’t Like…
- The fan is not the best quality.
- Walls are not insulated, so it’s not ideal for colder weather.
10.Ozark Trail Instant Cabin Tent (Includes Private Room)
Product Features:
- Center Height: 76″
- Weight: 33lbs
- Setup Time: 5 minutes
- Room Divider: Yes
- Sleeps: 11 people
The Ozark Trail Instant Cabin Tent is perfect for those who want an instant tent with good privacy.
An easy 5 minutes setup time means even beginners can pitch this one.
It can also be divided into three, with a secluded compartment that can be used as a private room or storage area. To give you an idea of size, the private room measures 6×8.
No problem if you don’t fancy using the secluded compartment as a storage area!
Ozark has also chucked in a gear organizer with this tent, helping provide a clutter-free camping trip.
The awning provides shade in the hotter months, while the mesh roof allows you to stargaze in the evening.
Sounds like the perfect combo to me!
And the icing on the cake…
There’s even an E-port for electrical access.
It’s about 60cm from the bottom of the tent, so you can still use your phone from a sleeping bag.
The only downsides with this tent are as follows:
There is not as much headroom in the private room. Of course, this doesn’t matter if it’s being used for storage.
Also…
Although this tent can withstand rain, the walls are thin. This means you will be cold in the winter months.
What I Like…
- Private room for excellent privacy
- Simple setup for beginners
- Can be divided into 3
- Awning provides shade
What I Don’t Like…
- The private room has less headroom
- Thin walls are not great for the Winter
11.WHITEDUCK PROTA Canvas Cabin Tent (Best For Cold Weather)
No products found.
Product Features:
- Center Height: 75-78″ (depending on tent size)
- Weight: 81lbs
- Setup Time: 20 minutes
- Room Divider: No
- Sleeps: 4-8 people (depending on tent size)
The WHITEDUCK PROTA Cabin Tent is one of the most versatile on the market. It can be used in all weather conditions, from sun to heavy snow.
And it takes just 1 person around 20 minutes to set up, depending on your level of experience.
A fast setup is essential when camping in cold weather because you need to stay warm.
The last thing you need is to stand around pitching a tent for ages.
Don’t you agree!?
You can also upgrade to the Whiteduck Prota Deluxe. This version has additional windows for increased ventilation.
Should you decide to use this tent in the Summer, the reflective sunblock roof comes in handy. It helps regulate the temperature inside, helping to keep you cool when it matters.
If you’ve been camping in the Summer, you know how difficult it can be to find a tent that isn’t like an oven inside.
There is also a large awning. This provides a place to sit when the sun is beaming down. Most campsites tend to be very open, so finding shade is tricky.
But not anymore!
In addition, there are multiple sizes. Depending on what size tent you choose, you will get either 75″ or 78″ of headroom.
That’s more than enough center height to feel comfortable in.
Unfortunately, these benefits do come with a downside.
This tent weighs 81lbs.
Pretty heavy, right!?
In fact, it’s the heaviest on this list.
The reason for the additional weight is because of its durable design. Try finding a lightweight 4-season cabin tent.
Yeah – not gonna happen!
What I Like…
- Only 4-season tent on this list
- Multiple size options
- Large Awning
- Reflective sunblock roof helps regulate the temperature
What I Don’t Like…
- Weighs 81lbs
- No option to install a tent stove
How To Choose The Best Cabin Tent In 2022: A Comprehensive Guide
Amount Of Headroom
Do you know what’s worse than a small tent leak?
No headroom!
Don’t you agree?
For most people, the purpose of cabin camping tents is so you can move around comfortably. However, even the best cabin tents don’t always have ample headroom!
You also have to consider the height of your camping associates, especially when looking for a family cabin tent.
Once you know everybody’s height, make sure to check the center height before purchasing.
To save you time, I’ve created a table for you. This table compares 3 tents from this article with the most headroom.
Big Horn Tent | CAMPROS Tent | Coleman Prairie |
---|---|---|
87″ | 84″ | 84″ |
Winner | Runner Up | Third Place |
Type Of Camping Trip
Because cabin-style tents are heavier, they are not suitable for all types of camping.
One such instance is with backpacking. It’s difficult to fit one of these tents into your backpack, as they are bulkier.
And even if you do, carrying a 30lb tent in your backpack is no fun.
I don’t care if it’s the best cabin tent in the world!
The same principle applies if you’re camping in the snow. Most cabin tents are not designed to deal with this type of weather.
So where can you use a cabin-style tent?
They are most commonly used in the Summer months. This is because they are spacious and have large mesh windows, promoting excellent ventilation (if you get the right one!).
The problem with cabin tents is they also invite the cold in because of their excellent ventilation.
From personal experience, they can be used in ‘colder’ climates, but not the ‘coldest’, if you know what I mean!
Screen Room (Nice Optional Feature)
A screen room is great to have.
And they go hand in hand with a spacious tent.

You can also use a screen room as storage space. However, make sure it has flooring. Otherwise, your equipment could get wet in a rainstorm.
If you already have space to store your gear – that’s also fine!
Why not transform your screen room into a dining area?
Setup Time
A tent should be easy to set up.
There’s nothing more frustrating than arriving at a campsite and spending hours putting pieces together.
It puts everybody in a bad mood. And that’s no way to start a family camping trip!
That’s why it’s crucial to choose a tent that’s not only easy to set up but doesn’t take too long either.
My advice is to look for a one with color-coded poles.
Alternatively, you can go for instant cabin tents. These tents shouldn’t take any longer than 60 seconds to set up.
Hence the name.
The best instant cabin tent is the Coleman Core. It takes about 5 minutes to set up for the first time. However, this time lowers to 1 minute once you get used to it.
Multiple Rooms
Because cabin tents tend to be bigger, it’s not uncommon to see separate compartments in the same tent.
One room can be used as a sleeping area, while the other as a kitchen or storage space.
However, most families use one room for the kids and the other for themselves. This means you can enjoy some privacy, even when exploring the great outdoors.
FAQ
What’s The Difference Between A Dome And Cabin Tent?
The main difference between dome and cabin tents is headroom.
Standing up in a dome tent is impossible because there is not enough headroom. That means you have to crouch down when entering, exiting, and maneuvering through the tent.
Doesn’t sound too fun, huh!?
Cabin tents tend to be a lot bigger. In fact, most cabin tents have enough room to stand up and move around comfortably.
Kinda like a mini house!
That’s why people use them for family camping trips.
Can You Set Up A Cabin Tent By Yourself?
It depends on the tent.
Keep in mind that cabin tents are a lot bigger than other types.
Therefore, setting one up by yourself can be difficult.
But that’s not to say it can’t be done!
Take the Core 9-person instant cabin tent, for example.
It’s a big cabin camping tent, but it only takes 1 minute to set up solo.
My recommendation is to check the product reviews beforehand. Most people explain whether a tent can be set up by itself or not.
In Summary
Camping cabin tents are a great way to feel more comfortable when camping, thanks to their generous headroom.
However, they are more suitable for hot weather, as they provide exceptional ventilation.
In the winter months, you will struggle to stay warm with a cabin tent.
